Introduction to Basic Palm Reading & Palmistry
Palmistry, or palm reading as it is commonly known, is a science with roots that go back for thousands of years. Ancient tomes and scrolls have confirmed that palmistry was practiced in Greece, India and other areas of the world.
Most people associate palmistry as simply the readings of the lines on the palm, but it actually is a more holistic study of the hand, involving the shape and length of the fingers, the shape of the hand and even the texture and color of the skin. Each aspect of the hand has it’s meaning in palm reading.
If you have ever been to a palm reader or palmistry practitioner, or if you plan to go to one in the future, they will most likely first ask you which is your dominant hand. While there is some differences in the meaning of each hand, most palm readers in the last century have always read the lines of the dominant hand.
The Heartline in Palmistry
As far as the lines go, there are three major lines that every palm reader will look at. Those the life line, the head line and the heart line. The topmost line in palmistry, if you are holding your hand up with the fingers pointing skyward, is the heart line, which can be found near the top of your palm, underneath your fingers.The heartline can indicate your general emotion disposition and how quickly and deeply you fall in love and can determine what your relationships – both romantic and platonic – will be.
The Headline
Below and generally parallel (for the most part) to the heartline begins towards the edge of your palm underneath your index finger and goes across the palm towards the outside edge of your hand. The headline isn’t necessarily an indication of your I.Q. but can also be reflection of your wisdom – or cunningness – and your mental fortitude, or will power. It is the line most closely related to your brain.
The Lifeline in Palmistry
The last of the major lines, the lifeline goes from the edge of your palm above your thumb – possibly merging with the heartline – and then flows in an arc towards yours wrist. A common misconception about the lifeline is that it foretells how long you will live – so a long lifeline would mean you had a long life and a short lifeline would mean a short life. Instead, your lifeline determines your vitality and vigor as well as your physical health and general well being. So a short life line might not mean you are going to die early, but it could mean that you might have poor health or be prone to getting tired easily.
Minor Lines in Palm Reading
While the heartline, lifeline and headline are the major lines in palm reading, there are a number of minor lines that a good palm reader will take into account as well. These include your fame line, your money line, your fate line and there is even a marriage line!
